HNU History Uncovered: The Second Wave of Foundresses
February 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmfree
Lecture by Sr. Sue Woodruff, Visiting SNJM Professor
Did you know that a second wave of sisters joined the original Holy Names foundresses just six months after they arrived in California? Hear the story of Sr. M. Mathilde, Sr. M. Paul Suzuki, Sr. M. Augustine, Sr. M. Janvière, Sr. M. Thècle, and Sr. M. Irene, who arrived in Oakland from Montreal on November 4, 1868. They were accompanied by Mother Jean Baptist, who remained in California and was ultimately named as the superior. Visiting SNJM professor, Sr. Sue Woodruff has researched the story of these sisters in the SNJM US-Ontario archives, located at the Holy Names Heritage Center, Lake Oswego, Oregon, and is eager to share it with the Holy Names University community. Refreshments will be served.
RSVP: Please contact Sr. Carol Sellman at firstname.lastname@example.org by January 25.
